Black tea is the most commonly consumed tea outside of East Asia. Unlike green and white teas, black teas are encouraged to oxidize, resulting in their darker color and rich malty flavors. Black teas may are enjoyed in many different ways, from English style, brewed strong and taken with milk and sugar, to Chinese ceremonial style, served in small vessels which maximize the aroma and flavor of each individual steeping. They are grown primarily in Southeast Asia and Africa, though in recent years have gained popularity in tea’s native land of China. It is a vast and often surprising category of tea, with something for every kind of tea drinker.
