The Moonlight Oolong is another direct-sourced first flush Darjeeling made from 100% AV2 (Ambari Vegetative 2) bushes grown at a high elevation (over 6,000 feet). The AV2 cultivar is one of the most widely propagated in Darjeeling, and is famous for its rich flavors and concentrated sweetness. Tea bushes grown at high altitudes such as this take a longer time to come to maturity and produce less total output, but the difference in flavor tends to be well worth it. The moonlight oolong tastes especially expansive and sweet on the palette, suggesting champaign grapes, jasmine flowers, and meadow grass. It is very delicate yet also very high in aroma, and should be brewed at a somewhat lower temperature for the best results.
